Statement of Faith

The Mill Church  Statement of Faith

The Holy Scriptures:
We believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God and created to instruct mankind of the true nature of God and his plan for us and the direction of carrying out that will. (2 Timothy 3:16,17)

The Eternal Godhead:
We believe God is Triune: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe all three facets are instrumental in the work of the Father in our lives. God being the creator of all things, Jesus spanning the gap between our sinful nature and God’s holiness and the Holy Spirit placed inside of us to reveal the heart and mind of God and endow us with God’s power and wisdom. (2 Corinthians 13:14)

The Fall of Man:
We believe that man was created in the image of God for fellowship with God, but that by disobedience he fell from holiness and created a barrier in the relationship between God and man. (Romans 5:12)

The Plan of Salvation:
We believe the salvation of man is given through the atonement of Christ’s shed blood on the cross applied through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit. It is Christ and Christ alone who is able to save us. We believe that we have no righteousness and must come to God pleading the righteousness of Christ. We must desire and accept a new birth in order to be saved and become partakers of the inheritance of eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8, John 3:3, John 3:16)

Repentance and Acceptance:
We believe that upon sincere repentance, and a wholehearted acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of our lives, we cleansed of our sin and forgiven by God. (I John 1:9)

Daily Christian Life:
We believe that it is the will of God that we surrender our lives to Him daily, realizing that it is only in His strength that now dwells in us that we can put off the old sinful nature and walk in holiness. (Philippians 4:13)

Baptism of the Holy Spirit:
We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to endue the believer with power; and that His incoming is after the same manner as in Bible days. We believe that the manifestation of gifts should be proved by the Word of God and the discernment of the Holy Sprit. (Acts 2:4, Mark 16: 15-18)

The Spirit-filled Life:
We believe that if we surrender our lives to the Lord daily and seek his power and wisdom, our lives will reflect the very nature of Jesus and the Lord will bless our lives with the desires of His heart. (Ephesians 4:30-32)

The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit:
We believe that as we walk the spirit filled life, we should bear fruit and this fruit should serve to draw men to Christ through our words and actions. (I Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22)

Divine Healing:
We believe that divine healing is the power of Christ to heal the sick in answer to the prayer of faith and the laying on of hands. (1 Timothy 4:14, James 5:14-16)

The Second Coming of Christ:
We believe that Christ will return and that no one knows the day or the hour and all should constantly be ready for his return. (I Thessalonians 4: 16,17, Matthew 24: 29-51)

Church Affiliation:
We believe it is our sacred duty to identify ourselves with the visible church of Christ.
(Acts 16:5; Hebrews 10:24-25)

Civil Government:
We believe that we are subject to our government and should uphold them in prayer always. (Romans 13: 1-5)

The Final Judgment:
We believe that all shall stand someday before the judgment seat of God, and there receive eternal life or eternal death. We believe that the only way to avoid eternal death is by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:10, John 14:6, Ephesians 2:8)

Heaven:
We believe that heaven is the glorious eternal home of born-again believers. (John 14 1-3; Revelation 7:15-17)

Hell:
We believe that hell is the place of eternal torment for all who reject Christ as the Savior.
(Revelation 20:10,15)

Evangelism:
We believe that sharing our testimony of salvation through Jesus is the responsibility of the each Christian individual as well as the church. (James 5:20)

Tithes and Offerings:
We believe that the tithe is a God ordained instrument for the support of the church that we are affiliated with. We also believe God has called us to give offerings out of the bounty He has bestowed upon us for other needs presented to us as we are able and willing. (Malachi 3: 10; 2 Corinthians 9:7)

Biblical Ordinances (Sacraments) of the Church

The New Birth:
We believe that a transformation takes place in the heart of everyone who truly surrenders their life to Jesus, which in turn gives that person a new awareness of the sin in their life and a desire to remove it. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20)

Baptism by Immersion:
We believe that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work and a public confession of our commitment to new life in Jesus. The immersion represents the death of our old sinful nature and the cleansing of our sins and coming out of the water we are raised into new life with Christ. (Matthew 28:19).

The Lords Supper:
We believe in the partaking of the Lord’s Supper in remembrance and reverence of the Lord’s sacrifice for our sins in taking the bread which symbolizes his body broken for us and the wine which symbolizes His blood shed for our sins. (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25)
